Key Responsibilities
As a Commis Chef, you will play a vital role in our kitchen team, executing various tasks tailored to your experience level. Your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Assisting senior chefs in the preparation and cooking of dishes
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety
- Learning and mastering basic cooking techniques and procedures
- Preparing ingredients for daily menus, including chopping, measuring, and mixing
- Assisting with inventory management and stock rotation
- Ensuring the cleanliness and organization of your work area
- Participating in kitchen meetings and contributing ideas to enhance menu offerings
Role Specifics
The Commis Chef levels (1, 2, and 3) represent varying degrees of experience and responsibility:
- Commis Chef 1: Entry-level position; focused on foundational cooking skills and food preparation tasks.
- Commis Chef 2: Requires some prior kitchen experience; expected to assist with cooking tasks and take on additional responsibilities.
- Commis Chef 3: More experienced; capable of preparing specific dishes under the supervision of senior chefs and may train junior staff.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about food and eager to learn. Ideal qualifications include:
- Relevant culinary education or training (certificate or diploma in culinary arts preferred)
- Previous kitchen experience is an asset but not mandatory
