Position Overview

The Closed Caption Writer will be responsible for creating accurate, engaging, and synchronized captions for a wide range of video content. This role demands creativity, linguistic skills, and a strong understanding of diverse audience needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and edit closed captions for various types of media, including films, TV shows, and educational videos.
• Ensure captions are synchronized with audio, appropriately timed, and formatted according to industry standards.
• Research industry terminology and jargon to maintain accuracy and context.
• Collaborate with video editors, producers, and other team members to meet project deadlines.
• Review and revise existing captions for grammar, punctuation, and clarity.
• Stay updated on the latest captioning guidelines and best practices.
• Engage in ongoing training sessions to hone your skills and enhance your knowledge of accessibility standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, Linguistics, or a related field (preferred but not required).
• Proven experience in writing captions or subtitles is a plus.
• Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with captioning software and tools (e.g., Aegisub, Amara, Subtitle Edit) is an advantage.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
• Passion for media and a deep understanding of different genres and styles.
